UniMeetAI ("we", "us", or "our") operates the UniMeetAI web application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our service.

1. Information we collect

We collect information you provide directly:

• Account data — email address and password when you sign up.
• Profile data — academic background, GPA, test scores, budget, country preferences, and degree level.
• Documents — SOPs, CVs, motivation letters, and other files you upload or generate through our AI Document Studio.
• Payment data — processed securely by Stripe. We do not store credit card numbers.
• Usage data — pages visited, features used, timestamps, and device/browser information collected automatically.

2. How we use your information

• To provide personalized university and scholarship recommendations.
• To generate and improve AI-powered documents (SOPs, CVs, etc.).
• To process payments and manage subscriptions.
• To send deadline reminders, weekly digests, and service-related emails.
• To improve our matching algorithms and service quality.
• To respond to support requests.

3. AI data processing

When you use our AI features (document generation, eligibility analysis, interview prep), your profile data and prompts are sent to third-party AI providers (Anthropic) for processing. We do not use your data to train AI models. AI-generated content is stored in your account for your use only.

4. Data sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with:

• Supabase — database hosting and authentication.
• Stripe — payment processing.
• Anthropic — AI document generation.
• Resend — transactional email delivery.
• Vercel — application hosting.

5. Data retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us. Upon deletion, we remove your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

6. Cookies & analytics

We use essential cookies for authentication and session management. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies. See our cookie consent banner for controls.

We also collect anonymous, first-party analytics — which pages are visited, how long a visit lasts, approximate device type, and referring site — to understand how UniMeetAI is used and to improve performance. This uses a random id kept in your browser's session storage (not a cookie), is never linked to your account or identity, and is never shared with a third party or used for advertising.

7. Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

• Access, correct, or delete your personal data.
• Export your data in a portable format.
• Withdraw consent for non-essential data processing.
• Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

8. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (TLS), row-level security policies, and secure authentication. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure.

9. Children's privacy

Our service is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16.
