Eligibility Criteria
The scholarships are for citizens of the named developing countries who meet the academic and procedural requirements the Czech authorities set. For 2026-2027 the main criteria are these. You must be a citizen of one of the eligible countries announced for 2026/2027: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Ukraine, Belarus (democratic forces), Ethiopia, Nigeria, Rwanda, Zambia, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Guatemala or Jordan. You must not be a citizen of the Czech Republic or an EU member state, and must not hold permanent residence in the Czech Republic. The study level open to you depends on your country: Bachelor's, Follow-up Master's and Doctoral options are assigned to specific country groups in the annual call.
Scholarship Benefits
- The scholarship covers the standard length of full-time study and takes the main financial barriers out of studying in the Czech Republic. Benefits include:
- Tuition at the host public higher education institution for the standard duration of the programme.
- A monthly living stipend paid in Czech koruna (CZK) to help with living costs. The amount is set by the Czech authorities and is usually higher for doctoral candidates than for undergraduate and master's students.
- A one-year Czech language preparatory course for students on Czech-medium programmes.
- Support toward accommodation and basic living arrangements during your studies.
- Stipend figures are reviewed periodically, so confirm the current amounts and what's included or not through the official DZS and MŠMT channels. Health insurance and personal expenses beyond the stipend may be down to you.
