Eligibility Criteria
German and international students enrolled at the University of Cologne Enrollment Requirements You need to be enrolled at the University of Cologne, or about to enroll, to apply. These are internal scholarships for the university's own students, not entry awards you win before you arrive. Both German and international students can apply. Academic Requirements Selection is driven by academic performance. The university looks at how well you have done at school and in your studies so far. Master's and PhD students generally have better odds than first-year Bachelor's students, since there is more of a track record to assess.
Scholarship Benefits
- A monthly payment, generally EUR 300, to help with living and study costs
- For the Deutschlandstipendium, support for at least two semesters, with possible extension
- Funding that does not have to be repaid
- For the Deutschlandstipendium, contact with the private sponsor backing your award, which can lead to networking and mentoring
- These scholarships do not cover tuition in the way a fully funded overseas scholarship might, because public universities in Germany generally charge only a semester contribution rather than tuition fees. The monthly payment is meant to ease your day-to-day budget.
