Eligibility Criteria
These fellowships are for women only, and specifically women who hold non-U.S. citizenship and don't hold or seek U.S. permanent residency. You must be a woman who is not a U.S. citizen or permanent resident You must hold at least one degree equivalent to a U.S. bachelor's degree You must be pursuing a first master's or an academic or professional doctoral degree
Scholarship Benefits
- The fellowship is a stipend paid toward your study and living costs during the fellowship year.
- Master's degree candidates receive $20,000
- Doctoral candidates receive $25,000
- Funds are disbursed in two equal payments, at the start and midpoint of the fellowship term
- Access to the AAUW alumnae network and community of fellows
- This is a contribution toward your costs, not a full scholarship. Most fellows combine it with other funding, including departmental support or assistantships, to cover the full cost of a U.S. degree.
- Beyond the money, the fellowship connects you to a network of women who've been funded by AAUW since the program's start over a century ago. That community, and the credibility of being an AAUW fellow, can open doors with departments, employers, and other funders well after the award year ends.
